Renewing your Indian passport in Singapore just got more streamlined — but also more process-driven. The Indian High Commission Singapore has introduced a fully digital application process where all documents must be uploaded online before your appointment at the authorised passport submission centre. Missing a document at submission means rejection on the spot — with no option to withdraw your application once submitted.
IVC Services has been assisting Indian nationals in Singapore with passport services since 2017. Our team understands every category, every document requirement, and every step of the updated process — so your application is complete, accurate, and ready before you walk into the submission centre.
Whether you need a routine passport renewal, replacement for a lost or damaged passport, a first passport for your newborn, or assistance with Indian citizenship renunciation — IVC Services provides end-to-end assistance so you never have to navigate this process alone.
The updated passport application process requires applicants to:
Complete the entire passport application form online before visiting the submission centre. Upload all required supporting documents on the designated online portal at the time of completing the application — not after. Book an appointment with the authorised passport submission centre in Singapore in advance. Appear in person at the submission centre on the appointed date with original documents for counter-verification.
Any error in the online form, any missing document upload, or any mismatch between uploaded documents and originals presented at the counter results in immediate rejection. Once a passport application is submitted at the counter it cannot be withdrawn except in emergency situations.
IVC Services assists Indian nationals in Singapore with the complete process — online form filling, document preparation, document upload on the designated portal, and appointment coordination — so your application reaches the counter ready for approval.
The standard renewal category covers passports that are expiring within one year, passports that have exhausted all pages, or passports where any personal details need to be updated. All applicants aged 5 years and above must be physically present at the submission centre.
Key requirements for standard renewal:
For applicants under 21 years of age, copies of both parents' valid passports and Singapore IC including validity and re-entry pages are mandatory. Both parents must sign the Undertaking Form and Annexure D which must be enclosed with the application.
Losing your Indian passport in Singapore requires immediate action and careful documentation. A lost passport application is subject to police verification clearance and Tatkal service is not available for this category. Processing time is subject to clearance from Indian authorities.
Key requirements for lost passport:
A passport falls under the damaged category when it has less than one year of validity remaining, pages are exhausted, or the photo on the passport is damaged. Like lost passport cases, Tatkal service is not available and processing time is subject to clearance.
Key requirements for damaged passport:
First-time Indian passport applications for children born in Singapore require registration of the child's birth under Section 4(1) of the Citizenship Act 1955 on the MHA website before a passport can be issued. This is a mandatory prerequisite — passports for children born in Singapore to Indian parent(s) will only be issued after this registration is completed.
Key requirements for newborn passport:
Indian nationals who have acquired Singapore citizenship or any other foreign nationality are legally required to surrender their Indian passport immediately. The Constitution of India does not permit dual nationality. There are two distinct processes depending on your situation:
Renunciation of Indian Citizenship — for those who acquired foreign citizenship after 31 May 2010 and have received In-Principle Approval from ICA Singapore. Processing time is 30 to 60 days.
Surrender Certificate — for those who already possess a Singapore passport or foreign passport and need to formally surrender the Indian passport. Processing time is 6 to 8 working days.
Key requirements for renunciation and surrender:
Important note on minor children: As per Section 8 of the Citizenship Act 1955, when a parent ceases to be an Indian citizen, every minor child of that person also ceases to be an Indian citizen. However the child may, within one year of attaining majority, declare their wish to resume Indian citizenship.
Tatkal service is available for standard passport renewal cases where urgent travel is required. Please note that Tatkal is not available for lost passport or damaged passport categories. Tatkal requires additional documentation and fees and significantly reduces processing time compared to normal service.
Key requirements for Tatkal renewal:
Any correction or change to personal details on your Indian passport requires specific supporting documents and must be noted in the application form at the time of online filling. It is mandatory to make remarks in the application when submitting any correction or change.
For change of name:
For change of date of birth:
For change of address:
Important: Applicants who make changes in name, date of birth, place of birth, gender, or parents' names will be issued a passport subject to police verification from their place of residence in India.
All passport applications require a photograph that meets ICAO international standards. Photographs that do not meet these requirements will result in rejection at the counter.
The photograph must be 51mm x 51mm in size, taken within the last 3 months. The background must be plain white. The applicant must wear dark coloured clothing — no uniforms. The face must occupy 80 to 85 percent of the photograph with the full face visible from top of hair to bottom of chin. Eyes must be open and clearly visible with no hair across them. Ears, forehead, and chin must be completely visible. No shadows on the face or background. No glasses. No red-eye. The expression must be natural with mouth closed. The photograph must not be digitally altered in any way.
Passport photo services are available at IVC Services. We take your photo on-site to ensure it meets all ICAO specifications before your application is submitted.
Certain categories of passport applications require police verification from the applicant's place of residence in India before the passport is issued. Applicants in these categories are advised to apply well in advance as processing time will be longer.
Police verification is mandatory for: change of name or personal particulars including date of birth, place of birth, gender, or parents' names (except name change by women due to marriage or divorce), applicants who have provided incorrect information about previous passports, lost, fully damaged, stolen, or seriously damaged passports where the photo is damaged, applications submitted more than 3 years after passport expiry, and applicants with pending court or criminal cases in India.

Yes — Indian nationals residing in Singapore can renew their Indian passport through the authorised passport submission centre in Singapore operating under the Indian High Commission. Under the updated process, all documents must be uploaded on the designated online portal before your appointment. IVC Services assists Indian nationals in Singapore with the complete renewal process — form filling, document upload, and appointment coordination.
Standard Indian passport renewal in Singapore typically takes 4 to 6 weeks from the date of submission at the authorised centre. Processing time for lost or damaged passport cases is subject to police verification clearance from India and may take longer. Tatkal service is available for standard renewal cases where urgent processing is required. IVC Services keeps you updated on your application status throughout the process.
You can apply for Indian passport renewal at any time — there is no minimum threshold of remaining validity required to apply for renewal. However if your passport has more than one year of validity remaining, an original company letter stating the reason for early renewal is required at the time of submission. It is generally advisable to apply at least 3 to 6 months before your passport expires to account for processing time.
Indian nationals can technically travel to India on an Indian passport regardless of remaining validity since India does not impose the six-month validity rule on its own citizens entering the country. However many transit countries and airlines do enforce the six-month validity rule. It is strongly advisable to renew your passport before it falls below six months validity to avoid complications during international travel.
Indian passport renewal involves a government processing fee payable to the Indian High Commission and a service charge for using the authorised submission centre. IVC Services charges a separate consulting fee for our assistance with form filling, document preparation, and upload services. Please contact us at +65 6904 8508 or WhatsApp +65 8595 9508 for current fee details.
Under the updated Indian passport renewal process introduced by the Indian High Commission Singapore, all required documents must now be uploaded on the designated online portal at the time of completing the passport application form — before visiting the submission centre for your appointment. Applications submitted without complete document uploads will be rejected at the counter. Additionally, applicants must book an appointment at the authorised submission centre in advance. IVC Services assists with the complete online process including form filling and document upload.
Under the updated process, an advance appointment at the authorised passport submission centre in Singapore is mandatory — walk-in submissions are not accepted. However you can walk into IVC Services at any time during office hours without an appointment for consultation, document review, form filling assistance, and appointment coordination. Call +65 6904 8508 or WhatsApp +65 8595 9508 before visiting.
The fastest option for standard Indian passport renewal in Singapore is the Tatkal service which prioritises your application for faster processing. To avoid delays ensure all documents are complete and correctly uploaded before your submission appointment. IVC Services assists with Tatkal applications including urgent appointment coordination. Note that Tatkal is not available for lost or damaged passport categories. Call +65 6904 8508 for Tatkal assistance.
You can still renew your Indian passport after it has expired — there is no penalty for renewing an expired passport. However if your passport has been expired for more than 3 years your application will be subject to mandatory police verification from your place of residence in India before the new passport is issued. This significantly extends processing time. IVC Services advises renewing before expiry wherever possible to avoid this additional step.
For standard renewal you need your original passport, two government-issued photo ID proofs such as Aadhaar card or PAN card, one passport-size photograph meeting ICAO specifications, and your valid Singapore residency document — EP, S Pass, Work Permit, Dependent Pass, or PR card with re-entry permit. All these documents must also be uploaded online before your appointment. Additional documents are required for name changes, address changes, and other amendments. IVC Services provides a complete document checklist specific to your situation — call +65 6904 8508.
Wear dark coloured clothing for your Indian passport photo — this is a specific requirement for Indian passport applications. Do not wear uniforms or white clothing as white merges with the required white background. No glasses. No head coverings except for religious reasons. The expression must be natural with mouth closed and eyes fully open. IVC Services provides on-site passport photo services to ensure your photo meets all ICAO and Indian High Commission specifications.
Under the new process, appointments at the authorised passport submission centre in Singapore must be booked through the designated online portal after completing your passport application form and uploading all documents. IVC Services assists with the complete appointment booking process as part of our end-to-end passport renewal assistance. When you submit your Indian passport renewal application the original passport is retained by the submission centre for processing. You will not have your passport during the processing period of 4 to 6 weeks. If you have urgent travel needs during this period you should inform IVC Services and the submission centre at the time of application. It is advisable to plan your international travel around your passport renewal timeline. Contact IVC Services at +65 6904 8508 to discuss your specific situation before applying.
Yes — standard Indian passport renewal in Singapore typically takes 4 to 6 weeks under normal processing conditions. Processing time may be longer for lost or damaged passport cases which are subject to police verification clearance from India. Processing time can also be affected by peak application periods and public holidays. Tatkal service is available for standard renewal cases requiring faster processing. IVC Services monitors your application and keeps you informed throughout.
Applicants under 21 years of age require copies of both parents' valid passports and Singapore IC including validity pages. Both parents must sign the Undertaking Form and Annexure D which must be enclosed with the application. Both parents' original passports must be produced at the submission counter for verification — they are returned immediately after counter verification. If one parent holds a foreign passport a declaration letter stating no foreign citizenship application has been made for the child is also required.
If your Indian passport is lost or stolen in Singapore you must immediately file a police report with Singapore Police Force. The police report copy along with a copy of the lost passport if available are required for your replacement passport application. The application must be submitted with all documents uploaded online before your appointment. Lost passport cases are subject to police verification from India and Tatkal service is not available. IVC Services assists with the complete lost passport replacement process — call +65 6904 8508 immediately.
